I am excited by the challenges facing us as a species and as a generation. It is now more then ever that we need excitement, positivity and creativity about our future. We are all aware that we are living in a time of change; innovative approaches to the objects that surround us are essential. What is realistic now? How can we bring more sustainable products into the commercial market rather then as an luxury side line?
Many of my products are driven by what a material can do, in finding contemporary applications without being biased by expectations.
Having recently been awarded the Design Museum Residency I am working on my project to find a thrifty, sustainable alternative to petroleum based foam. I have also sold the IP for my design HUSH (as seen in Icon) to Fatboy, so I'm working on getting that ready for industrial manufacture. We're hoping to have it ready for distribution in the Autumn. I'm also developing other concepts using felt for Bejing based design studio Nono Mauks. And of course I'm working hard on my project GEOD for our debut show during Clerkenwell Design week.
